I am going to Egypt with my Husband and I intend to get one or two bellydance lessons in while I am over there. (whats the point of a bellydancer going all the way over there and not getting a lesson eh?)

I know about the Nile Festival happening in November but am not sure if I will be in that area when it is on.

Does any one have any favorite teachers over there that they have been to and can recommend to me?

I saw on Lonely Planet that they recommend Raqia Hassan.

I'd say my experience is Intermediate/advanced.

  • Aida Nour , Lubna Emam, Randa, Kazafy, Shalaby, Caroline, Yasmina - there's so many to choose from it's hard to pick just a few. What are you wanting to learn? I've had classes with Raqia and been disappointed so the last time I went I didn't bother about it.

In Egypt, they don't really run the classes with levels. They assume that you already know how to dance and want to learn their style.

btw- anyone else thinking of going to Egypt either this year or next? I'm looking for someone to share acommodation expenses with.

    Hi Kathy

I went over last year for Keti Sharif's International A-Z Teachers Conference. While we were there she arranged for us to have classes with Liza Lazziza. She was fantastic so I can highly recommend doing classes with Liza.
