Tribal Workshop with Sahira (Texas, US)
There will be two days of workshops. Numbers are limited for both days.
Only 11 places are available for Saturday and 21 places for the Sunday.
Saturday May 20th, 2006
Venue: Classique Dance Studio – 191 Brisbane St, Launceston, Tasmania.
Next door to Maree’s Ballet Shop.
10am-12pm Urban Gypsy Moves & Cues—Add a little spice to your repertoire with some moves and cues from Urban Gypsy. These moves can be easily integrated into your existing improvisational repertoire or incorporated into solo and choreographed work as well. Some experience with improvisational dance suggested.
12pm-1pm Lunch. BYO.
1pm-3pm Tribal Skirt Dance— Sahira will teach a vocabulary of improvisational skirt moves with their associated cues. Special attention will be given to Spanish skirt
stylings and body attitude. Students should bring a full skirt to class.
Some experience with improvisational dance suggested.
Sunday May 21st, 2006
Venue: Tasmanian Academy of Dance – 1 Mann St, Invermay, Launceston.
10am-12pm Urban Gypsy Combinations—Learn some hot new tribal combinations which will be used later in the day within a tribal fusion choreography.
The class will include some fast spins and snaky footwork, as well as just a little bit of Bhangra!
Students should bring a full skirt to class, as well as dance shoes or half soles for those with sensitive feet.
12pm—1pm Lunch. BYO.
1pm—3pm From the creator of "Arabian Spices" comes a sassy new number to
Oojami's "Ali". This choreography will utilise combinations taught in the morning class, as well as some skirt movements. Students should bring a full skirt to class, as well as dance shoes or half soles for those with sensitive feet. Come prepared to have fun... and to sweat!
For students enrolling in both days, please take note that Sunday’s workshops will be held at a different location to Saturday’s.
Bring: Skirt, lunch, bottle of water, paper and pen.
Cost:
Saturday & Sunday - 8 hours of workshops. Paid by May14th, 2006 $225.00
Sunday only – 4 hours of workshops. Paid by May 14th, 2006. $125.00
